Hoplophobe Tennessee BBQ?

Walls of the City writes that a restaurant on the Pax list of favorites is owned by a hoplophobe currently up *cough* in arms over a bill meandering through the Tennessee legislature that would eliminate restrictions on carry permit holders carrying weapons in establishments that serve alcohol as long as the permit holder does not drink.
After eating at a "Calhoun's - Taste of Tennessee", and being generally unimpressed with both the quality of the food, and the flavors of the BBQ sauces, I cannot say as though that particular chain of restaurants was very high on my list of place to go back to. However, after reading through some of the rampant hoplophobia put forward by Mike Chase, the owner of "Calhoun's" and "The Copper Cellar", I will be sure never to spend my money at them in the future.
Now, the Linoge and I differ on the quality of Calhoun's BBQ. The Pax Wife and I usually dine at the White Bridge Road location on Nashville's west side and have done so often enough to have a favorite waiter. I typically order the House Ale Sirloin with Spinach Maria, Corn Pudding, and Baked Apples followed by their Jack Daniels Pecan Pie... Heaven.

However, Mr. Chase's rant has put his establishments OFF LIMITS for the Pax Household. I don't begrudge Mr. Chase his political views, but if he wants to speak out and try to limit my Liberty my dollars will go elsewhere. Mr. Chase is welcome to create Gun Free Zones where his customers are prey on a criminal buffet. We are free to go elsewhere.

[UPDATE] Linked by SayUncle who opines, "Last night, I stopped off at a local eatery to grab some food to take home. I didn’t know if the place served alcohol or not. So, I had to decide whether to leave my gun in the car or take it with me. Looking at a coin flip, I erred on the side of not leaving the weapon in the car. Went in, picked up my food, and still don’t know if I broke the law or not. I didn’t see alcohol advertised there. But it could have been on the menu. That’s how the debate of this bill should be framed."

Yup. SayUncle also points out, as did Linoge, that Chase could simply put up appropriate signage in accordance with Tennessee statute. Of course, he'd still lose my patronage... Linoge notes in the comments that he likes hot BBQ and peppers. Hey, I grew up in the South West and spent 11 years in El Paso, Texas eating foods that require asbestos napkins. There's more to flavor than flame...

[UPDATE 2] Welcome Michael Silence - Knox News readers...

Eh, each to their own :). I am the kind of guy who eats habaneros for fun, so I found their sauces to be a little on the mild/bland side. But, like I said, that is just me.

As for Mr. Chase's rant about my freedoms and rights... yeah, he can pack sand. If he does not want firearms in his restaurants, he could have just posted his facilities, and left it at that. Lobbying against this bill, however? Yeah, that was unnecessary, and is going to cause him all manner of heartache.

His choice, though.
