Word for the Day is Pandemic

Pandemic from the Oxford Dictionary: widespread over a whole country or large part of the world.

More to the point a pandemic doesn't have to kill lots of people like the flu of 1918. It just has to be widespread. Some quibble and say it has to be a new disease, but that didn't always hold true. According to Wikipedia there is an influenza pandemic every 10 to 30 years.

And how about that Kathleen Sebelius on the ground running. And it's not referred to as Swine Flu anymore--here it is known as H1N1.

More later: It's Officially a Pandemic Now
